Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Lara E. Fincher

My name is Lara E. Fincher. I am originally from Opelika, Alabama. Upon graduation from Opelika High School, I attended Troy State University in Troy, AL on a Leadership Scholarship. I graduated Summa Cum Laude (with highest honors) with an undergraduate degree in K-6 Elementary/K-6 Collaborative Education. I decided to stay at Troy, on a full scholarship, to receive my Master’s degree, also in K-6 Elementary Education.

Currently, I am a third-grade teacher. Through my college internship and being a substitute teacher, I gained valuable teaching experience in grade levels K-5. I was a volunteer teacher in a Lee County summer enrichment program and a tutor in Pike County through the Big Brothers/Big Sisters Program (BBBS). I have also taught pre-school classes (babies-Kindergarten) at my church.

At the Lee County Teacher Appreciation Banquet in May 2007, it was an honor for me to be awarded the Rookie Teacher of the Year at BgES for “exhibiting outstanding characteristics as a first-year teacher.”
