Dear Families,

Welcome to another exciting school year at West! My name is Kathryn Gatton, and I am thrilled to be teaching 5th grade Reading and Language Arts this year. This will be my third year here at West, and I’m eager to dive into a new school year with your children.

I live locally with my husband and our two children. Though I am originally from Illinois, we moved here for a military assignment, which has allowed us to become part of this wonderful community. Our oldest recently graduated from SSHS, while our youngest is currently attending SSJHS.

When I’m not teaching, you’ll find me enjoying quality time with my family, getting lost in a good book, watching Netflix, or finding new places to travel. 

I am excited to have your children in my reading class this year, and I look forward to reading and analyzing many wonderful stories together.
