I am LaWanda Washington Barnhill. I was born and raised in Tuskegee, Alabama. I am the youngest child to Jennifer Washington and the late Theodore "Ted" Washington, Sr. I am the mother of two outstanding and energetic young men, Kelvin "KJ" Maloy (BHS c/o '21) and Kyan Maloy (BHS c/o '23). I am married to my awesome husband and friend Michael Barnhill; together we have four amazing children.

I graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Tuskegee, Alabama in 1996. After graduating from high school, I attended Troy State University in Troy, Alabama.  I received my Bachelor's in Science Degree in K-6 Collaborative Education in 2000.  I received my Master's in Guidance and Counseling from Troy University Montgomery in 2006. 

This is my 24th year at Sanford Middle School. I began my teaching career here in 2001. I taught fifth and sixth-grade Language Arts and Social Studies for five wonderful years. I began my counseling career here in 2006. I truly enjoy working with our students, parents, and the Beauregard community.
