Mrs. Daisy Benford

Dear Sanford Families,

I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself as the Assistant Principal of Sanford Middle School.  I am honored to be in this position, and I'm looking forward to assisting in any way I can to make this a great school year!

I currently reside in Opelika with my husband and three children. I am originally from Marengo County, Alabama. I moved to Lee County in 2008. Since moving here, I've met some amazing people.

I have been working in the field of education since 2005. In 2005, I started my career in seventh-grade science at Russell County Middle School.  Living and working in a different time zone is challenging. It is extremely challenging with younger children at home - getting them up early and preparing them for school.  After praying about it, I made the move to Lee County Schools.  And I must say, it has been a blessing every since.  So many doors of opportunities have opened for me.  At Loachapoka High School, I served in many roles. I taught seventh and eighth grade science, Project Lead the Way, coached the VEX Robotics team, and served as the College Board AP Coordinator.  Outside of Lee County Schools, I am a certified Alabama Math, Science, and Technology Initiative (AMSTI) and A+ College Ready Trainer.  These positions allow me to support and provide Alabama educators with research-based teaching strategies, develop and deepen their content knowledge, and equip them with classroom resources to teach middle school science and STEM.  Last but not least, I also serve as a governing board member of East Alabama Regional Inservice Center (EARIC).  EARIC is a resource center that provides professional development and services for teachers and administrators in East Alabama.

I truly believe in the power of building relationships with students, families, staff, and the local community.  My decision to become an administrator came from a strong desire to make a positive impact on an entire school community.  As the Assistant Principal, I will work diligently with our faculty and staff to carry out the mission and vision of Sanford Middle School. I believe that, as a school, we play a fundamental role in shaping students for future success.  I am committed to working closely with teachers, parents, and community members to ensure our students achieve their full potential and are prepared for the NEXT LEVEL of their educational career.

In closing, communication is key for student success and I value a strong home-to-school connection. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have, as well as to share positive news or celebratory moments involving your children.  I am looking forward to continuing to build relationships with the Beauregard community and to meet all of the students and faculty.

Let us make this our best year ever!  Fly Hornets Fly!
