Hi all, my name is Mrs. Martin, some students may remember me as Ms. Skieff from my internship at Beauregard Elementary school as well as substituting. I am very excited to be teaching 5th grade English this school year at Sanford! 

A little about me:

I am a Beauregard High School and Auburn University at Montgomery Alum.

I grew up in Beauregard and am honored to call it home.

I realized I wanted to be a teacher after years of instructing kids in martial arts classes as well as summer camps and many other activities offered to me as a martial arts instructor. 

I wholeheartedly believe that teaching is the process of preparing a learner, to the best of one’s ability, to be successful, confident, and knowledgeable about a topic and/or activity. Teaching requires constant self-assessment, encouragement towards students’ success, and belief in oneself and students. Five key elements of my philosophy of teaching are:

•         Self-assessment is a required, recurring, process
•         All students have the ability to learn
•         Proper preparation, management, and organization drive the classroom environment
•         Encouragement is not only recommended but necessary for student success

I hope to be a positive influence for all of my students and help them not only on their journey through education but in life as well. I want them all to succeed and reach their goals.
