You may apply if your parent has been employed for the past three years in one of the following PUBLIC SCHOOL TRANSPORTATION capacities: school bus driver, bus aide/monitor, bus mechanic, parts clerk, foreman, managers, trainers, supervisors, directors, and inspectors. To qualify, your family must have had a gross taxable income of less than $80,000 for each of the past three years. You must have a 3.0 GPA to apply. A typed essay of 500 or less words is required. Four letters of verification are required: one from your parent's employer verifying employment and documenting financial need; one from a teacher stating why the award should be made to you; one from an adult family member stating why the award should be made to you; and one from your counselor verifying your GPA, graduation date, and college you are planning to attend.     • TALLAPOOSA RIVER ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE

Amount of award will be from $500-$2,500. To be eligible for this scholarship, your power at your home must be provided by REA (Tallapoosa River Electric). The Christian Connector, Inc. website provides free Christian college information. You must attend a Christ-centered Christian College or Bible College if awarded the scholarship.

An essay is required and three reference forms must be completed (1 from an Administrator or Counselor, 1 from a Teacher, and 1 from an Extra-curricular/Community Service Sponsor).     • UNITED METHODIST DOLLARS FOR SCHOLARS (UMDFS)
      UPDATED 2-12-20. Applications are accepted January 1, 2020 until March 1, 2020. The United Methodist Higher Education Foundation (UMHEF) provides $1,000 matching scholarships to select United Methodist students who have received a $1,000 scholarship from their local United Methodist church to help them attend a United Methodist-related college, university, or seminary.     • UPS SCHOLARSHIP
      UPDATED 2-12-20. Deadline to apply is March 27, 2020. Scholarships in the amount of $2,500-$5,000 are awarded. You must be of Asian Pacific Island/Pan-Asian American heritage or have an ethnic background from Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Korea, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, the Phillipines, Vietnam, or Thailand. You must have at least a 3.3 GPA, demonstrate financial need, be involved in community service, and demonstrate leadership in extracurricular activities. To apply, you must submit a color 2" x 2" photo; a 500-word essay on the topic "Why should I be awarded this scholarship" signed by the student and counselor; high school transcript; parent's tax return; two letters of recommendation (one from your high school and one from a community service organization); and your proposed postsecondary major with the associated costs.       UPDATED 8-26-17. Two scholarships are available for dependents of UPS employees. The James E. Casey scholarship (awards ranging from $2,000-$6,000 per year for four years) is designed for those students planning to attend a four-year institution. The George D. Smith scholarship (awards ranging from $500-$2,000 per year for two years) is available for those students planning to attend a two-year institution. Potential applicants must take the PSAT in November of their Junior year and your parent must be employed by UPS to apply.     • USPAACC COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP
      POSTED 3-5-21. Online applications are available from January 25, 2021 until April 30, 2021. Applications are due on April 30, 2021 before 11:59 p.m. EASTERN time. Up to 15 scholarships in the amount of $3,000-$5,000 will be awarded. A minimum 3.3 GPA is required. Applicants must be of Asian-Paciifc Island heritage to apply. Two essays (addressing specific prompts), two letters of recommendation, a 2x2 photo, post-secondary plans, copies of recent tax returns for your parent/guardian, and a transcript are required.       UPDATED 2-12-20. Deadline to apply is April 2, 2020. Applications will be accepted from January 5, 2020 until April 2, 2020. You must be the dependent of a Walmart employee that has been employed for a minimum of six months prior to you applying. Scholarships up to $13,000 (paid over four years) are available to dependents of Walmart who have a 2.0 GPA and a demonstrated financial need. Your FAFSA must be submitted prior to applying. Your parent must be a full-time or retired first responder (law enforcement, fire fighter, corrections officer, dispatcher) for you to apply. Four $1,500 scholarships will be awarded. In addition to the application, a typed essay of at least 500 words on the subject 'Selflessness', a resume, two letters of recommendation, a copy of your parent's First Responder Identification, a copy of your college/university acceptance letter, and a transcript are required.
