My Philosophy

My Philosophy

  • I believe education is a powerful force that shapes the future by instilling values, knowledge, and behaviors in students. My philosophy blends Idealism, Realism, and Essentialism. The primary goal of education is to develop exemplary character and intelligence, creating well-rounded future citizens who benefit society. Schools should prepare students as model citizens, teaching values like "what you sow, you will reap" and "doing the right thing when no one is watching." My classroom focuses on critical thinking rather than indoctrination. To achieve a holistic education, students should be exposed to diverse content, including math, reading, history, social studies, writing, science, and the arts.

I strongly believe that education requires collaboration among parents, students, and educators and that parents are a child's first and most important teacher. Parents are crucial in a child's early development, with proper behavior and social skills starting at home. Parents lay the foundation of expectations at home, teaching fundamental social skills and behaviors, while teachers build upon this foundation, guiding children through more complex social interactions and academic challenges at school. Teachers play a vital role in modeling and facilitating learning, guiding students through structured experiences to develop critical thinking and perseverance. Assessment is necessary to keep track of student progress and guide data-driven instruction.

I believe a balanced approach to teaching, blending art and science, is essential for student engagement and learning. Education should include diverse perspectives to enrich understanding. Ultimately, education is a collaborative effort to nurture both the mind and soul, preparing students for a compassionate, informed, and capable society.
