• During the first week of school, students will come home with their flower folder, this folder will serve as a way for me to communicate with you, their family member and you with me.  

    In their flower folder will be the following;

    • Alphabet (Uppercase and Lowercase). Please work with your student, every night, to help them identify each letter and their sounds.
    • Daily Sight Word Practice: Please work with your student on the 1st set (1st 9 weeks) of sight words. Students are expected to master 80% of their words before the end of the school year. 
    • CVC word list (short a) will come home first. 
    • 100’s Chart: Please work with your child to recognize numbers 0-20 and count to 100. 
    • First and Last Name practice sheet.

     

    This will be the only homework students will be asked to complete daily. If your student is struggling with a specific skill, I may send home additional practice for you to work on at home. Additionally, if your student does not complete his or her work in class, they will be asked to complete their work at home, and it will be due the following day! 
  • Behavior Expectations

    During the first week of school, each student will receive our class flower folder. This will be where I will send communication home. At the end of the flower folder, there will be a behavior calendar; this is where I will mark behavior for each day that they are in class. Our class will use a number-based system.
    Students will start each day with 2 points; going home with 2 points is the expected outcome.

    3 points = above and beyond

    2 points = actively listened/participated most of the time

    1 point = listened/participated some of the time

    0 points = had a hard time listening/following instructions.

    There may be times when a student earns 0 points for the day which will result in a phone conference or office write-up. Parents will be expected to sign documentation stating that they received the conference note. 

     

    Homework 

    During the first week of school students will come home with their flower folder in there will be the following;

    • Alphabet (Uppercase and Lowercase) Please work with your student to help them identify each letter and their sounds, this is extremely important!
    • Daily Sight Word Practice: Please work with your student on the 1st set (1st 9 weeks) of sight words. Please do not move on until your student has mastered the first list of sight words, you will get a note from me. 
    • 100’s Chart: Please work with your child to recognize numbers 0-25 and count to 100. Students will be expected to count to 100 before leaving kindergarten. 
    • Tracing Practice: Name Tracing practice and letter tracing practice, please practice three times each week.

     

    This will be the only homework students will be asked to complete. If your student is struggling with a specific skill I may send home additional practice. Additionally, if your student does not complete his or her work in class, they will be asked to complete their work at home.
